This study aims to map the contribution of contemporary Islamic economic thought through a systematic review of key works and scientific publications related to the ideas of M. Baqir al-Sadr, M. Umer Chapra, and M. Abdul Mannan. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on 20 verified articles (2010–2024), this study identifies the developmental direction of the epistemology of Islamic economics and the relevance of these scholars’ core ideas in the context of modern challenges, including social inequality, digital transformation, and the need for reconstructing economic governance. Thematic analysis reveals that contemporary Islamic economics is centered on five major agendas: the normative foundation of Sharia, distributive justice, maq??id-based governance, strengthening of social finance, and the ethical integration of digital innovation. The synthesis confirms that the scholars’ contributions not only provide a strong theoretical foundation but also offer applicable frameworks for public policy design and modern economic instruments such as productive zakat, Cash Waqf–Linked Sukuk, and inclusive development models. This study contributes to clarifying the position of Islamic economics as a credible alternative paradigm and provides direction for further research in developing value-based and evidence-driven Islamic economic systems.
